OPEN CALL: Oulu Writers Association invites Icelandic Writers for a Residency Period in September 2020

Oulu Writers Association announces an Open Call for Icelandic Writers to apply. The Writers Residence takes place in Northern Finland, Liminka. The residency programme is organized in collaboration with Oulu Writers Association and Liminka School of Arts.


Oulu Writers Association was founded in 2010. All its members are professional writers. Association maintain Oulu House of Literature and organizes events around the year. Association organizes international literature festival Uusi kirjallisuusfestivaali (New Literature Festival Oulu) in 11.-12.9.2020. This is the fifth year. Festival is open-minded for different kind of books: fiction, non-fiction, comics and children’s books. We are located in the city of Oulu with a population of 200,000.


The residence is located in a small town in Northern Finland, Liminka, 30 kilometers South from the City of Oulu. Liminka School of Arts is the oldest community college in Finland, founded in 1966.


We expect the residencial artist to give an artist talk at Liminka School of Arts, Liminka library and  New Literature Festival Oulu during the residency period.


Duration of the Residency

September 1 – September 30, 2020 (1.9.-30.9.2020)


What we offer

- Fee of 400 euros

- Accommodation in Liminka School of Arts

- Lunch during the School days in Liminka School of Arts

- Local bus card to travel between Oulu and Liminka

- Translations to another languages
